    A little nitpick here:

Jerry Rice would have easily made the roster as the #5 receiver; however, he made it clear that he would retire if he could not perform at the level required to win the #3 or better spot. He didn't get cut.

For the last 5 years Favre had the will he or won't he retire saga after sticking with Green Bay while they were rebuilding.

When they're finally back as a contender he has a brain fart & decides to quit.

Now he's ended up with a struggling team like the Jets?

Good fit or not the situation he left to where he is now makes him a moron.

But if you're the Packers management, this is AWESOME! It gets Brett out of their team, their division, and even their conference!

And the better that Brett plays, the higher the draft pick compensation. Somebody in Wisconsin is doing the Happy Dance.

Jason Whitlock on the Favre mess

Here's an excellent article by Jason Whitlock. If you're not familiar with Whitlock you really should be. He's one of the very few brilliant, non-cliché riddled sportswriters out there. Once you follow his work for a while you won't be able to suffer reading the columns of hacks like Mike Lupica and his cronies. You certainly won't always agree with Mr. Whitlock, but his takes are always his own (not some regurgitation of what every other sportswriter is saying), and even on the stuff you disagree with, you'll see his columns are extremely logical and his takes very consistent.

Yes that was a good read & maybe answered my question as to why Favre left when things were on the up in Greenbay.
