Fisher Says Agreement with Johnson Close

    SUMMARY: Titans coach Jeff Fisher stated today he felt his first-round draft pick, Chris Johnson, would be a part of the opening day of training camp. "It may be a midnight hour thing tonight but things are progressing nicely and I would expect him to be on the practice field tomorrow," said Fishe. "Now, the dotting of the I’s and crossing of the proverbial T’s may reach into practice tomorrow but it’s not something that’s going to be a long, drawn-out holdout. Johnson, pick number 24 overall, is the only rookie who remains unsigned.

    Why on earth would CJ ever be # 3? No way! He is going to shock allot of people including non believing Titan fans. CJ will make a loud noise and may be in the running for Rookie of the year. Chris Henry will be lucky to be on the active roster most weeks.

    The Tennessean blogs say that he should be signed sometime today and on the field tomorrow, due to the amount of slotted contracts getting done around him. Apparently his agent is known as a guy who doesn't get deals done until the slots are pretty set out of fear of getting a bad deal.

    Mendenhall has signed, so that is a good benchmark contract. He got 12.5/5 with about 7.5 guaranteed, so CJ will get a little less that that. This should not take long, but then we have to wait for all the paperwork to get done before he gets in the camp.
