SUMMARY: Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher was part of an ESPN rumor stating he was contacted by the Texans and Rams about coming to their team for a draft pick. "I have not been in contact with anyone. Beyond that, I really can’t comment," Fisher said. "I have one more year on my contract here with an option after that." Fisher also said that nothing has yet been resolved regarding extensions for his assistant coaches, whose contracts are up, including defensive line coach Jim Washburn. "We have a number of coaches whose contracts are up, and I am working toward getting extensions for them," Fisher said.

I thought Schwartz and Chow were both signed for three years last year. Can anyone confirm?

I believe Chow and Schwartz are signed through 2007. These is no way Chow would have left USC for a one year deal. They must be referring to some of the position coaches like Washburn. I wonder which ones?

"I have not been in contact with anyone. Beyond that, I really can’t comment,"

Sounds like parsing of words here. His agent could be talking to teams without coach having been in contact...I Jeff tiring of Bud?

Reminds me a bit of when Pacman said Big Daddy Gaddy was trying to squeeze $250,000 out of him, and when asked about it, Gaddy said: "I don't recall those words coming out of my mouth." (no comment on his lawyer's mouth, though) And, the Nashville media let it ride because they like Gaddy and don't like Pacman.

Still, Fisher's response doesn't mean there are actually any kind of negotiations going on in spite of the tepid denial. It serves Jeff's purpose at this point for it to appear other teams are interested in his services. He needs some leverage for signing his assistants, which seems to be a more difficult process than it needs to be for some reason. Bud hung him up on this last time, too.

Plus, no coach likes going into a season with just one year left on his own contract. If Bud thinks it would be prudent to give Jeff and extension in light of other teams pursuing him, that's all good from Jeff's point of view.

Washburn is one of the best position coaches in the NFL - IMHO

now if you are referring to dehr Schwartzie I am in total agreement with you, unless the Titans feel they need an offensive quality control specialist.
