Posted by ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky
The Associated Press NFL Coach of the Year will be revealed Sunday evening and Atlanta's Mike Smith and Miami's Tony Sparano are widely regarded as favorites. Fair or not, the honor often goes to a newcomer who exceeds expectations.

The Maxwell Football Club voters leaned differently, voting to give Tennessee's Jeff Fisher its Earle "Greasy" Neale Award for Professional Coach of the Year.

Of the 1,109 votes received, Fisher had 332, Sparano 292 and Smith 185. An additional 300 votes were divided among sixteen others.

Not sure how many there are, but Fisher shouldn't have gotten one.

    I agree.

The coach of the year award should go to the coach who guided their team to the best record in football.

    Oh. Wait......

Tony Spurano (sp?) did wonders for that team in miami that went from 1-15 to 11-5...So if he or Fisher doesn't get the official Head Coach of the Year award, then who cares?

Best record in football isn't a justification when the talent is enough to win most those games. Coach of the year shouldn't have been outcoached by a guy that was fired this season. Coach of the year shouldn't lose to the Texans.

I think a guy that turns a team from nothing in to a contender is more deserving. (like in Atlanta or Miami)

I dont think it was all the Coach in Miami, Bill Parcells turned that team around.

I think they should have considered Gayton Pman.
I am sure he will send them sweet nothings for next year though
