Nah man. The NFL just favors the Packers more than the Cowboys.

That really was a catch... Even with the stupid rule of maintaining control IMO.

There was a booth review of the call (original call was a catch) and the call was overturned. For that reason I have to disagree with you (that the play was a catch even with current rules). No way does that get overturned if the catch was compliant with the current rules.

Now, if you were to say that anyone with common sense would call that a catch, I could get on board with that. The refs did originally....what more would you need to support that point? Obviously the rule as written defies common sense, at least to me. And, as mentioned previously, now that the rule has screwed the wrong team, it will likely be changed in the near future IMO.

BTW did anyone else catch that the overturning of the pass reception was McCarthy's first successful challenge of the season? He had actually lost a previous challenge in the game and the announcers called him out for being 0 for 5 on the season.

So Whis does (or did, anyway) have one thing in common with a playoff coach this season....

Then compare THAT to the workload. Kickers and punters are well compensated for the work they put in.

Kickers play like 10 snaps a game. Punters even less, unless it's Brett Kern.

On games being fixed... WHY? The NFL draft has more viewers than the World Series. There's no reason to risk ruining the sport and all the billions it generates. That, alone, is the reason NFL games are not fixed.

As for the catch, it was one though, by current NFL rules, it wasn't. I think the NFL has to step back and look at this rule which, IMO, is as stupid as the tuck rule was.

Not for the scrutiny they have though. They have the most high pressure job out there. They are expected to make every FG and Punt the ball well. Their Jobs are always on the line. Whereas a QB can have a game where he throws 5 int's and will be the starter next week. If a kicker misses 5 fgs in one game he is prolly gone next week.

They don't rig the games completely but the give the team they want to win every opportunity to do so. This stricter illegal contact policy they are doing now gives them even more control of the game. That's the only reason it was implemented.
