I had the misfortune of playing in what gradualky exposed itself to be a Grateful Dead tribute band. They will never, ever get my vote for anything positive.

How can the Foo Fighters be squared with The Dead at 7? :shakehead:

Garcia put together some very nice songs, and was far more prolific than the Foo Fighters. I can't say I didn't like a toke back in the day, but I don't think the Foo Fighters ever even glimpsed a following that the Dead had. The Foo Fighters couldn't hold the Dead's jock in real debate about the impact of music on a fan base, but I get your point. That was all so long ago that most of you were not there to remember it- I was, and still don't.....

Its amazing that a jam band could play THAT many gigs and still consistently sound like dog squeeze.

I like, but don't necessarily love, both bands. I really have to be in the right mood for the Dead. And even when I am in the mood I tend to get tired of it pretty quickly. I think part of that can simply be attributed to the fact that they are a jam band. If you're not stoned out of your mind 20 minute jams on a song like China Cat can get old in a hurry. They do have some songs I really love though.

Foo Fighters, I enjoy a lot of what I hear I just never got super into them for whatever reasons. I ended up picking GD mostly because I figured FF was going to run away with this one.

I voted FF because they are the last Rock band with staying power and Dave seems like a cool guy to hang out with - and I mostly do not like hippies, hippy music or tie-dye..
