Gerald R. Ford, who picked up the pieces of Richard Nixon's scandal- shattered White House as the 38th and only unelected president in America's history, has died, his wife, Betty, said Tuesday. He was 93.

Ford had battled pneumonia in January 2006 and underwent two heart treatments _ including an angioplasty _ in August at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

He was the longest living president, followed by Ronald Reagan, who also died at 93. Ford had been living at his desert home in Rancho Mirage, Calif., about 130 miles east of Los Angeles.

I don't know much about 'em, but I do know that he was on the seven person Commission to find out who killed Kennedy. And they determined that Oswald was it. His presidency was clouded by this and the whole Nixon predicament.

A president is a president tho'. Probably very underrated.
    Rest in peace.

  4. Yes, my grandmother said that she really took notice of her age when she realized she was older than the sitting president (ever since George HW Bush).

As for Ford, I wonder how many people know him better for "his" SNL pratfalls than for anything he did as president...
