Polian is confident they will keep Clark.

I think Harrison would simply retire if it came to that. We should try to get Clark though. Troupe is definitely not cutting it.

A lot of the free agent WR talk is inspired by Moss and what he has done for New England. Isn't Moss going to be a free agent??? Has New England resigned him???

Here is the 2009 Draft at WR, which is loaded. We may want to wait for a WR Draft.

    Michael Crabtree*, Texas Tech
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 222.
    40 Time: 4.49.
Projected Round (2009): Top 5 Pick.
I know stats don't really mean anything in Texas Tech's offense, but Michael Crabtree just seems special. In the first seven contests of his collegiate career, Crabtree has 78 receptions, 1,244 yards and 17 touchdowns. What really impresses me is his combination of size and speed. That 40 time may even be faster now, as it is a bit old.

    DeSean Jackson, California (9/30)
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 178.
    40 Time: 4.32.
Projected Round (2009): Top 5 Pick.
DeSean Jackson snapped out of his early-season slump, catching 11 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns in an upset at Oregon.

Compared to Santana Moss. Returned four punts for touchdowns in 2006. There's talk that Jackson may run a 4.2, which would put him into the top five. He's the same size as Ted Ginn, and could be even faster. Jackson recorded 59 receptions, 1,060 yards and nine scores last year.

    Malcolm Kelly, Oklahoma (9/8)
    Height: 6-4. Weight: 217.
    40 Time: 4.47.
Projected Round (2009): Top 10 Pick.
Malcolm Kelly continued to dazzle, as he beat Miami's renowned secondary for four receptions, 102 yards and three scores.

Kelly is currently on pace to improve upon his 2006 season. In his first game of the year, Kelly had four receptions for 118 yards and two touchdowns. He had 62 catches, 993 yards and 10 scores last season. Kelly has a great 40 at his size.

My apologies for leaving Kelly off this list. I'm not sure what happened; I had him here before. Must have erased him by accident.

    Darrius Heyward-Bey*, Maryland
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 195.
    40 Time: 4.37.
Projected Round (2009): Top 15 Pick.
As a freshman, Darrius Heyward-Bey led the team in receptions (45) and receiving yards (694). All of his production came toward the end of the season. Named to the preseason first-team All-ACC. Still has a lot of room to grow - it's almost scary how good this guy can become.

    James Hardy, Indiana
    Height: 6-6. Weight: 215.
    40 Time: 4.53.
Projected Round (2009): Top 15 Pick.
James Hardy caught at least five passes in all but one game starting in October 2006. Had nine receptions for 151 yards and a touchdown at Purdue.

    Percy Harvin*, Florida
    Height: 5-11. Weight: 181.
    40 Time: 4.34.
Projected Round (2009): Top 20 Pick.
You can look at Percy Harvin's freshman numbers (34 receptions, 427 yards) all you want, but they don't tell the whole story. Harvin dominated at the end of the 2006 campaign, garnering 91 yards against South Carolina and 62 versus Arkansas. However, Harvin saved his best performance for last, as he notched nine catches for 60 yards in the BCS Championship. Harvin is essentially a lock to go in the top 20, given his 40. If he keeps improving, he could be taken in the top five whenever he chooses to declare.

    Brandon LaFell*, LSU (9/8)
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 205.
    40 Time: 4.46.
Projected Round (2009): Top 20 Pick.
So much for LSU not having a second option across from Early Doucet. Brandon LaFell had the breakout performance of his collegiate career against a very solid Virginia Tech defense, catching seven passes for 125 yards, leading all Tiger receivers.

    Oderick Turner*, Pittsburgh
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 200.
    40 Time: 4.48.
    Projected Round (2009): 1.
Oderick Turner, who has an excellent 40 at 6-3, was extremely productive as a freshman and quickly became one of Tyler Palko's favorite receivers. Turner had 44 catches, 660 yards and eight touchdowns. His second-best performance was against West Virginia (six receptions, 95 yards, one touchdown).

    Devin Thomas, Michigan State
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 218.
    40 Time: 4.45.
    Projected Round (2009): 1.
After catching just six passes in 2006, Devin Thomas has registered 75 catches, 1,226 yards and eight touchdowns this season. Where'd he come from? Thomas has a great 40 at his size, and could be drafted in the first round in 2009.

Here is my favorite WR in this draft. I am a Houston guy, but this guy is really good no matter who played qb and my bias.

    Donnie Avery, Houston
    Height: 5-11. Weight: 190.
    40 Time: 4.28.
    Projected Round: 2.
That 40 time is not a joke. Donnie Avery is also a return specialist; he caught 57 passes for 852 yards and five touchdowns last year. 91 catches for 1456 yds this year. Avery has to prove himself, but an NFL squad will give the chance because of his 40 time. Had 346 yds receiving in one game, and 427 all purpose yds in the same game.
