Both Oliver and Gaither had some value; the problem is, both players are at positions where the Titans already have plenty of bodies.

The Titans already have 7-8 veteran corners on the roster, with Michael Griffin and Ryan Smith also in the mix. (And, of course, there's still the slim possibility that Pacman could be back next year.)

Same thing goes for the O-line; the lineup is already pretty much set, with Amano, Loper, and Wand coming off the bench, and Leroy Harris and Mike Otto also competing for roster spots.

If they didn't see Oliver or Gaither as an upgrade over the guys drafted this year, then I can easily understand the decision to pass.

I agree. Maybe when they compared Gaither to Wand, Otto or Loper (not exactly a great list) they didn't see enough to warrant using a pick on him when all those guys are essentially comparable. Thats the assumption I would make anyway giving the FO the benefit of the doubt. Of course if Gaither does turn into a quality starting OT at either side of the line a bunch of teams might wish they had used a 5th round pick on him (all but one team could have had him in the 5th, Ravens were 31st).

The same thing with Oliver and maybe a 4th rounder for him might have been a little less value if he didn't impress in the workouts. If he isn't a big upgrade over the Florida kid why bother.
