Obviously they had a better offense but MUCH more might not be true. I mean they averaged 20 yards more a game and 5 more points a game (they also scored plenty of defensive and returns for scores I believe). So it's not like they were up with the big teams.

The Titans running game was better than the Texans and you are right about the defensive and special teams TDs.

There are teams that make the playoffs, that have just as bad of a chance to win the Superbowl as they did when the season started. The Titans, Redskins and Bucs were the 3 teams this year in my opinion.

The Titans were 50:1 to win the Superbowl before the year started in Vegas, and I offered any of my friends (we're all Titans fans) that same 50:1 as soon as it was announced they would have to go through San Diego, New England, and The Colts to get the chance. I had no takers.

However, if we had made the playoffs in 2006-07, I think we could have done some damage and I would not have even offered 15:1 odds to anyone because the way Vince was playing (running) we would have had a legitimate shot. The defense wasn't all that great, but we made plays. The offense was what kept other defenses on their toes. Vince, with a first down marker in sight, wouldn't hesitate to take off and run for it, and in most cases make a guy or two miss for extra yardage. As an opposing defense, it was very tough to defend.

And then there was 2008. I believe Vince's stubborness to be a self-proclaimed "quar-ter-back" will keep this team from being very dangerous. The Titans did not draft Vince because of his ability to read defenses or his skills as a passer. Not that either is completely terrible, but neither quality was the best of his draft-class as his draft position indicated.

He is a play-maker and I believe only be able to spark fear in defenses eyes when he is mobile; as he did all through his playing career. If he or the Titans decide to remove that strength from the equation, I hope the proper work is done by Vince to work on his arm this off-season. And, of course WR targets are brought in.

If I remember right, Johnson and Schaub missed the same part of the season. And Tom Brady was in the Top 150 of his class, but no one says VY is a failure because he has a worse season that him.

Yup. I was. They only both missed one game (Week 9 @ Oakland). However, Schaub's numbers were much worse when AJ didn't play. He only has a 71 passer rating in games AJ did not play, while overall he had a 87 rating. VY had a 71 rating.

So VY + these WRs = MS - AJ

Not only did he lose with the Texans but Schaub lost with the falcons too.

Missing out on Young must have really hurt.

I am VERY thankful the Texans didn't believe the hype.
