Do you follow me around purposely? How else would you define it? Neutral...hmm. Everyone has some sort of an accent, I suppose.
I've grown up in the south, and have always been thought of as a Yank because I speak correctly.

haha, believe me I try not to just pick on you, I just think we are on two completely different wavelengths most of the times...

    Definition of Accent:
dialect: the usage or vocabulary that is characteristic of a specific group of people; "the immigrants spoke an odd dialect of English"; "he has a strong German accent"; "it has been said that a language is a dialect with an army and navy"

holding that definition to be true, I would say that there is no real "Neutral" accent and if one is to assume that there is, then what they interpret as being a "neutral" accent, would only be neutral to their specific views

what may be "neutral" German to a German speaking individual is straight up German to a Brazilian who has never heard a lick of German

come on Gloat I think you're right sometimes...

PS: grew up in the south and you're a Michigan fan? Definitely doesn't help fellow Southerners from further calling you a Yank.

    your family originally from Michigan?

Hard Southern sounds like uneducated gibberish, as does a hard Jersey shore/NYC accent. Upper midwest (Minnesota) just sounds silly, as does Californians when they end every sentence in "yah?"

You should hear Pidgin Hawaiian...it's by far the dumbest collection of sounds ever heard. Google and find the pidgin Ten Commandments, and read them from the back of your tongue, like a doctor is telling you to say "aah".

Nebrasky-folk have what might be best described as a mix of slight Minnesota by way of Iowa and the slightest twinge of mid southern. They almost purposely mix up double negatives and have all kind of trouble with adverbs. At first I didn't notice it much, but after spending way too many nights at the crappiest motel in Pawnee City, NE for work I started noticing it. Larry The Cable Guy is from Pawnee and his southern accent is a total farce..

A hard Baltimore accent is like nails on a chalkboard to me. I swear they have to be faking it. A close second is a hard "Pissbargh" accent. So weird that one of my favorite accents can be heard so close by in folks from Virginia. Tennessee southern sounds a bit goofy to me: "Keww Whip" instead of "Cool Whip". You'd be hard pressed to find a Tennessean who doesn't pronounce the "L" in salmon...

Born in Detroit, but I'm 25 and have lived most my life in TN. But my fam consists of Detroit/Toronto natives. So I visited back and forth a lot. The only games I went to til I was about 15 were all in the D or Ann Arbor, other than a Chicago Cubs game. Then came Titans.
And yeah, that's why I said everyone has some sort of an accent. But when you pronounce words as they're intended or spelled, I consider it neutral.
