yea the "it-sucks" button discourages participation
Yeah, you got a beef with a post - don't wuss-tag it and run with your tail 'tween your legs.
I didn't mind the it-sucks feature, but it is lame to get an it-sucks and the guy who sucked you wont even man up and explain why
of course you'd cry like some scorned ex girlfriend.
You guys make a good point
I don't get the beef with the it sucks feature. If it hurts your feelings and makes you go crying to TJ then the internet probably isn't for you anyway. And I don't really buy the "it takes away from discussion" idea either. We have our fair share of juvenile one word responses (e.g. idiot, moron, libtard, etc.) as it is. Not really sure how that's much different than clicking an "it sucks" button. And besides, many times when I clicked the "it sucks" it was because the post in question really isn't worth the time/effort to respond to anyway. So I'd just mark it as a terrible/worthless/trolling post and go on with my business.
Bottom line, IMO it's fun and adds a bit more character to the forum. And I've said this before on this topic, but there's just something satisfying about seeing 40-ish it sucks attached to a really, really terrible post. At least the person has been somewhat publicly shamed for their nonsense.
The irony is that those who disagree with what you said would it sucks" you.
No one can say it would not be incredibly satisfying to see 20 'it sucks' on one of Jimmy's posts.
