McDonald’s kale salad has more fat and calories than a double Big Mac | Ars Technica

I'm assuming that the "crispy" option in the screenshot of McDonald's nutritional menu is the fried chicken version. Still, damn....

I'm thinking about switching up my diet. Been reading a lot about the ketogenic diet and I'm really wanting to give it a shot.

If a person wants to eat "more healthy" the first thing I'd recommend is don't eat at McDonald's. But yeah, people don't realize that by the time you pile a bunch of dressing, cheese, and fried chicken on a "salad" you might as well be eating a hamburger.

What's that? I've heard of it but not familiar.

I started juicing a few months back and love it. It's helped me significantly increase my veggie consumption. I also cut my alcohol intake big time. I definitely can feel a big difference in my energy level. I've also noticed I'm starting to drop that last bit of stubborn fat.

It's a high fat and protein diet, low carb(no more than 40-50 g or zero if you have the will power.) Most of your calories from fat, no trans though. It works well. The idea is to eat large amounts of fat to trick your body to burn the fat on your body, when your not consuming fat. You will go into ketosis, when your body switches from glucose to ketones for fuel. The first week, more for some, will be rough you will be little more tired, some 'brain fog.' You stick with it your energy levels will go up feel good overall.

I have done it. It works but it is hard, you will get carb cravings like a mother****er, the lower you go(carbs) the stronger the cravings. Every week you do a carb up were you eat carbs slightly above whats normal for your macros. I went 2 weeks before carb ups, the longer you stay in ketosis the more weight you lose. The only carbs you should get while not eating the traditional carbs, rice, grain, lentials etc, should be from veggies like green beans and broccoli no corn or othe high carb veggies. Oh look up bullet proof coffee, its coffee mixed with butter. Sounds sick but its ok, it helps you meet your daily fat intake. Think thats it.

Congrats on the loss. Honestly man, if you don't get consistent with your diet you're never gonna keep it off. That's a lot of fluctuating in a year lol.
