Trying to sign Peyton clearly shows the organization wasn't content with mediocrity.

Why does this still need to be discussed? Obviously we tried to make a move but didn't land it. How is trying to add great players "content with mediocrity"?

You completely missed my point. We were (past tense) content with mediocrity by saying "we're happy with Locker and Hasselbeck" and not going after Peyton.

You do realize Munch and Webster did not initially want Peyton, right? It took Bud jumping in and forcing their hand. That was my whole point.

How can you argue that Munchak/Webster at that time weren't content with mediocrity sticking with two mediocre QBs instead of going after arguably the best QB of all time?

I love Webster, but he was a fool for not wanting to go after Peyton. I know there were injury concerns, but it's freaking Peyton. Just put an injury clause in the contract.

I said thank god Bud stepped in and at least tried. I'll always appreciate his effort in landing us Peyton. And I'll always hate the idiot Vol fans who camped out at BSP to cheer him on when he walked out the doors... I'll hate all the local radio stations for sucking his wang in beyond creepy ways.

I realize a lot of Vol fans have multiple posters in their bedrooms with Jergens and Kleenex ready to go, but they should've chilled the F out and let it play out on its own. We'll never know if they were the reason for us not landing Peyton, but they certainly didn't help. Peyton himself said he was turned off by the circus atmosphere.

Everyone here in Knoxville who knew Peyton all said the same thing... he's just a laid back dude who wants to be treated like a normal person. Nashville is generally great because we treat celebs/public figures with respect and don't harass them, but in this case we failed.

Would've been one hell of a ride to get to watch Peyton play for our team.

Screw John Elway and the Broncos. Horse faces stick with horse faces. They probably have Sarah Jessica Parker working in the FO too.

I don't agree with all that but yeah, I just don't like this "franchise is content with mediocrity" bs that gets spread. You don't attempt to spend $100 million and then spend $100 the next offseason if you are just "content".

I believe it was Reinfeldt who was charged with sitting on his hands when Bud wanted us to go after Peyton. Webster was not the GM at the time.

Reinfeldt didn't do much. So far, Webster has run circles around him.

Reinfeldt was just Fishers puppet. After Fisher left he was promptly "promoted". Emphasis on the quotes.

My point exactly. If we were happy with Reinfeldt he would have stayed the GM. We were not so he and Ruston got promoted.

Rusten is up and down, just like any GM. (at least he has his ups) I like how he got the guy he wanted.

I like Smith so far. Let the football guys take care of football, and he will write the checks and doesnt mind spending.
