Look, I was just having some fun with you here, but if you want to get down to brass tacks on stuff like this, you might get proven wrong ('new around here' or not).
You may have had dogs when you were a kid (that your 'rents took care of), but I have dogs NOW, three of them. I do tend to stay as current as I can with breeds and how much their puppies go for. As expensive as English Bulldog puppies are, Cane Corsos are more expensive.
I would like to think that I know a thing or two about dogs and breeds.

 

By saying some research, she was trying to tell you how much she can afford because of whoever her husband is.
