no, i think he'll be exposed for the fraud that he is. this will show without the great blocking he got last year, he's nothing but someone with very good straight line speed.

I actually like this decision quite a bit, and I applaud Lovie Smith for thinking outside the box.

Hester showed nothing as a DB, and probably would have spent his entire career as the fourth or fifth corner on the depth chart.

But he's clearly a dangerous guy with the ball in his hands with serious playmaking ability, and his speed will force defenses to account for him on every snap. (Think about what the Titans have done with Pacman....he's only had a handful of snaps on offense, but he picks up 10+ yards almost every time.)

It's all about making the team better. Even if Hester only has 3-4 touches per game, that's more than he would have contributed being buried on the DB depth chart.

sure, why not...give him a shot, I'm all for giving guys with great speed a chance, you never know what they are capable of until you give them a few chance in games.

Hard to say, but it's unlikely that he'll be more than decent. At least he's getting opportunities...

and some of the best vision I have ever seen out of a returner. Seriously dude, watch a Bears game. The ST's was the same as in 05 and nobody had the kind of success Hester had.

This is a great move by Chicago. Hester will be used as a decoy mostly, I assume, but will probably run many bubble screens and streaks from the slot. He will probably be used on reverses also, kinda like how we used Pacman.

Seriously, I question if some of the posters here have ever seen Hester play.

the one against the vikings was impressive, all the others were straight ahead with no moves.

Moves or no moves - he made his cut into the right lane. They were all impressive.

Yeah, let's just throw any guy that runs a 4.4 or better in as a runningback! It'll work! lol Are they this desperate for offense? Wait, nevermind.

Hester is not as good as Dante Hall was. He's not that good period. There's tons of players with his exact 40 time, it's just that they don't apire to be JUST a return man. Hester dances and makes moves, and a fraction of those moves break him open.

90% of NFL teams have an old white guy coaching punt returners and telling them that they either get upfield or they get benched. Hester plays for a team with a laughable offense, so their ragamuffin staff permits him to dance the night away on every return. He's nothing. No more than another Manute Bol, Brock Lasner, Shawn Bradley, Mugsie Bouges. It's all gimmickry.
