    No, it isn't.

I'll do you like everyone else that tells me Kendrick is a lyricist or he has good songs (lyrically)....

    Show me.

    Go ahead.

He babbles and tries to sound poetic but never says anything at all. He'll start to go somewhere with a bar and then just get lazy by the next one and think of whatever rhymes.

He's one slight step up from Lil Wayne in that regard.

I would've voted for Kendrick because Eminem is a whiney vagina.

Wouldn't have mattered though... oh well.

that's just wrong. firstly, kendrick is more than a lyricist or an mc at this point. he's an artist in full creative control of his output. his songs aren't bars and a hook.

but if you need lyrics here are a couple of examples. don't try and pick lines, read the lyrics as a whole.

if you think he's saying nothing i'd say the issue is with your comprehension. comparing him to lil wayne is hilarious

That's the thing. You have to say "don't look at bars" or segments, because the writing is really, really poor.

He does have a message. I don't want to phrase it like he isn't trying to communicate something. He is. I just think his writing is lazy and elementary.

I feel like he could have a powerful track if he really focused. Instead, he'd rather be vague as a crutch to get around writing.

I actually get what DW is saying. Most of KL's music is him rambling over beats.

People dig the lack of structure though, I guess. That seems to be a thing these days.

I still like KR's music though, don't get me wrong.

I love Kendrick, but I don't disagree with Deuce regarding his lyrics. If you really listen, they are pretty lazy in places.

I just love the overall production.

I also thought the big deal that people made about his lines in Control was really dumb. He just said a bunch of names as filler and says how he is killing it over and over. Saying you are killing it isn't actually killing it.

well the control verse response wasn't actually about the verse, but the people he called out. but to start a career the way he has is the definition of "killing it"... i'm not sure what your criteria is for a great rapper, but he rarely wastes a word of a bar. what do you need? punchlines? his flow is impeccable, it's intelligent, it's entertaining, and he's the best storyteller going.

calling anything about him lazy just screams ignorance. look at the layers and nuance in a song like "these walls"... nobody else is really doing that

what you guys are saying about kendrick is how i feel about lil wayne... he says absolutely nothing ever. he's good at punchlines and wordplay but he talks about nothing.

Whoa. He's the best storyteller going?

Show me a storytelling song he has that's legit.

It's not in his arsenal. But then again, neither is the "intelligent" stuff you're mentioning. He's not Lil Wayne, but intelligent lyrically? Hardly.
