Anyway you slice it he isn't worth the money he's getting as the #1 pick. When he really hits his prime he'll be ready for a new contract & want more.

He may well be good for you as a player in the long run but it was a stupid pick & his salary is way too high.

He has only played 2 years and was already 3rd in total sacks last year and a monster against the run in his soph season. Thats called good player in THE SHORT RUN. Mario had a better season last year than Bush and Vince, if you really think he was a stupid pick.... seek help.

I think Williams is a good player but in 06' he was not worth the #1 pick in the draft in terms of value. Everyone was shocked when you took him.

Right, except for the Texans organization who stood by their pick... and now its paying off for the reasons they anticipated. Don't tell the Texans he wasn't worth the #1 thus far. He was the top defensive player on most all teams boards that year, and I think rated top overall on 7 or 8 boards including Bill Parcells cowboys before that draft as stated by local sports personalities, and articles I have read since then.

And it was revealed after we picked up Slaton this year, thatcomparisons were made in terms of where he was taken and the value of a third down type pass catching homerun threat back, and the team said it was the right spot to take him as this type of back. Not with a #1 overall pick... meaning they viewed Bush as more of a 3rd down type and Mario Williams a DE with a much longer NFL lifespan as a just as good or more value pick. Hmmm...

Dont knock the Texans because they could see through all the B.S.... you should be complimenting them.

Texann you're just one of those fans who think your organization can do no wrong. You can't say Mario Williams was a great pick right now. You have to wait a little longer to see how they pan out. I can also tell you think the texans have a great chance of winning the super bowl, even though they've never even made the playoffs.

lol... you guys are great. Of course the Texans can do wrong, and they did the first 4 years of existence PLENTY. But they have done way more right than wrong lately and its why they have turned things around from that 2-14 season.

And yes, I CAN say Mario was a great pick right now... and most would agree. At least going off of what we know so far. Sure, he could tailspin and become a bust.... but so could Vince and Reggie....in fact, both of them did sort of do a tailspin. 9 Tds vs 17 interceptions? All 3 could be pro bowlers for years to come too. But what we know so far, comparing them and re picking... I am sure many wouldn't argue with the Texans making the SAME exact pick again. We saw the value of a stout defensive line in last years super bowl, and you should all know that your D-line was a huge reason why you guys even made it to the playoffs last year.


The Texans dont have a great chance to win it this year for sure. Next year? Who knows... but they are a team that is def. on the up and up. I was just showing how silly that comment was.

Hindsight truly is 20/20. I was on the old Texans Talk board when Mario was drafted & on that day the sky was falling.

You could have traded out of the top 6 & filled two needs at the time.

I love it when rival fans re-write history & spin a horror story into a pot of gold.

Anyway back on topic.....your O Line is still one of the worst in football & you'll win nothing until you resolve the problem. Alex Gibbs is good but he won't turn your cow pie line into gold.
