"I Am Legend" in name only...

Probably will be a good popcorn flick but having read the script, which misses the point of Matheson's I Am Legend completely I have to wonder if they'll ever make this movie correctly. No Bud Cortman? The Vampires don't speak?

I was hoping the next Cruds record would get released before this movie came out so folks wouldn't think we were talking about the flick and not the book in our tune "Come out, Neville" but alas they struck the famous line from the movie anyway.. Hollywood strikes again...

Yeah, I like Masterson's stuff. The movie looks good, but maybe a remake of Omega man sort of. I will probably go see it.

Heck I'd love a true remake of Omega Man! So far though this seems more like Resident Evil..

I read the book, and having thought about it, I do not think they could make a movie that would SELL at the movies if it was JUST like the book.

People like to always think the originals were better anyway. Regardless if they were or not. So, some would stick to their guns on any movie made to a favorite of theirs.

there ya go... why Hollywood will always disappoint those adamant die hard original book fans...

Jurassic Park and Congo were both excellent books by Michael Crichton 10/10s

Jurassic Park the movie was pretty darn good 8/10 ... not disappointed at all

    but

Congo on the other hand was a Joke 1/10

With Hollywood, having "trained" today's movie-going public to only indulge in mindless CGI-fests and idiotic superhero movies, you would be correct. Once upon a time they made movies that were based on great stories that also sold alot of tickets.
Just imagine how lame The Shawshank Redemption would be if Andy Crane defeated the prison guards with Matrix style kung-fu then escaped by flying around via some jet-propulsion backpack..
I Am Legend is a famous story of human desperation, but this movie looks to be yet another round of cartoonish Hollywood eye-candy.. Style over substance...
