I Want Mallett

If that article is the best you have it proves nothing. IMO Mallett came clean and admitted he sampled some weed and coke while in college but I still don't see that as a big deal. My goodness I know guys who did the same thing and went on to be just fine (including myself). The real question is if he is addicted or was this just a young kid doing what young kids do in college. As far as we know he never failed a drug test and his performance wasn't reflective of a guy strung out on drugs (I'd suspect Locker more than Mallett after watching some of his tape or maybe Newton was fried while throwing at the combine).

I like how Nawrocki calls the guy a "big party guy" and then tries to tie the Carolina incident to that accusation. The Carolina incident was blown way out of proportion. He got sick the night before he had meetings with them, went down stairs and told them he was throwing up during the night and they cancelled his meetings. Turns out he didn't stay out late that night and was probably really sick. If he had a hangover he would have just gutted it out.

He has had one incident in 2009 where he was arrested for public intoxication. Heck, I remember some girl puking at the table in the cafeteria after happy hour one time in college. I guess she is a low life junkie in some gutter now. Now if he had failed a drug test and we had more hard evidence to go on I'd be more inclined to want to stay away from him but I just don't see much here to be overly excited about. These articles are fabricated to try and shed the worst light on Mallett they can. You could write an article using the same incidents in a more favorable tone and the guy would look much different. Heck, I bet Mallett got caught dipping tobacco when he was 16 years old (our whole HS JV baseball team got caught by our coach doing that one time) and that proves the SOB is scum.

 

I have Charlie Freaking Sheen as my avatar, if I don't like Mallett for our team, his own mother shouldn't. I'm friends with dozens of guys just like him, that's why I don't want us drafting him, I know this guy, and they don't make good franchise QB's. Fine guys to have a BBQ and a beer with, but to hand millions of dollars to, nah. Also anyone who willingly chooses to play for Bobby Petrino is a snake in my book.

So he should have spent the rest of his career riding the bench for Rich Rodriguez? That would make him an idiot (as opposed to a "snake").

 

If you can go to Michigan, and go to Arkansas, I'm betting there's a third team too. The fact he chose to go with where Petrino is, is what's worse than doing 7-gram rocks out of Charlie Sheen's porn star girl friends butt crack.

-Mallett is from Arkansas.
-Petrino runs a successful pro-style passing offense.
-Arkansas had no QBs in the pipeline after their senior quarterback.

It seems to me like Arkansas was the most obvious and best choice of school for him. I doubt he chose to go there based on how liked/disliked Bobby Petrino is.
If you had been his advisor, where would you have suggested he go?

 

Yea, Mallett actually did something smart and he is getting blasted for it. Typical.
He couldn't have found a more fitting place to play all things considered.

 

The main problem with Mallett isn't the partying(although that is a problem) it is his lack of mobility and decision-making while under pressure. Mallett is a statue that has to have a great offensive line to be successful.
