Lamont Thomson was drafted in the 2nd round, with the 4st overall pick by the Bengals. Quite a high pick indeed and for reason he had a really good college career.

now here is the funny part. how often do u see a player drafted in the 2nd get cut after only a single yr? which begs the question.....y is he still on our roster for so long? doesnt make sense that it took the Bengals only 1 yr to cut him...an he's goin on his 5th yr with us...while seriously suckin for most of them

I thought the Bengals figured he was too dumb to understand their defensive scheme.

    Too dumb?

His wonderlic was 15. He's married to a lawyer. Doesn't sound that dumb to me..

If lamont is too dumb to play safety then what can we say about vince young?

Calvin lowry didn't even take the wonderlic. All that said it may come down to which player diagnoses plays quicker so lowry may have the edge there.

I want lowry to be a stud and i hope he takes that spot but lamont has at least has risen to the challenge..

To whom one is married does not indicate intelligence.

Reminds me of Juqua Thomas. I was pretty high on him. He seemed to have the intangibles. He ended up having some not so great seasons here. He plays for the Eagles now, backing up Kearse of all people. Thomas had six sacks as a backup last season. The eagles say they are going to get him more in the mix, as he has a special gift as a pass rusher. Just because a player has had some odd seasons in the NFL, doesn't mean they can't improve. Lamont is really trying. We may not even be talking about this had the FO been bringing in talent to compete for his spot all along, instead of drafting players to back him up, and eventually become his successor.

Lamont may not have fit into the Bengals new defensive scheme, and he probably had too clean of a criminal record, they thought he was going to clean up some of their mentally challenged athletes.

I have been a HUGE critic of Thompson in the past...

I'm begining to think he can play. He's really gained alot of ground with me so far this preseason. I'm not above ripping on him for sloppy play though.
