It definitely makes a difference. Let's compare:

You are suggesting the drop from Ben Roethlisberger to Landry Jones/Mike Vick is at least close to the same level of drop off as

Dalton - McCarron - although unproven, McCarron played pretty well, but Dalton is clearly not Big Ben level.

Cutler to Brian Hoyer to Barkley - Cutler is proven to be a TO machine and easily second guessed as a "franchise QB" while Hoyer played very well just last year on that same Houston Offense everyone ripped up all season long because Osweiler sucks. Barkley in general is kind of unproven but played ok in his time this year.

Cutler to Jimmy Clausen - I can agree this is a pretty steep drop off but again Cutler is NOT on the same level as Big Ben but Clausen may very well be around the same level as both Jones and the aged Vick.

 

Why would Ben come back when he has this at home....

I REALLY liked a conversation Julian Edelman was having with one of the Steelers DB's. The DB said "we're in here" to Edelman, Edelmans response was "the fact you have to tell me youre in here says youre not in here"

then they let Edelman go for 118-yards and a TD

also, Edelman is a savage, the stuff hes caught saying is amazing, wonder what all Taylor Lewan spits out during games.
