And we traded out of it because we had someone that we felt was a franchise QB. Someone who was selected #2 the previous year, and a reach by the opinion of many.

Ah, so you didn't mean to say that all teams drafting in the top 15 don't have franchise QBs? Thanks, just making sure:)

    There's really 3 waves of spots qb's could go. 1-3, 6-13, 25-32.

Most of us don't think any of the qb's are worth a top 3 pick, but if you are San Fran or Chicago, you either reach for the best one(s) in the draft or go with a 2nd round or 3rd round player. Watson and Trubisky and probably Mahomes will not make it into that 3rd wave. Cleveland is the only team that can go after a QB in any of these spots...but how many qb's do they actually like? 1? Or is it 3?

So the problem for San Fran and Chicago and the Jets, and Buffalo is are you willing to go with a 2nd round guy and cross your fingers or reach for the guy you think is the best QB in the draft?

San Fran has a year to burn if necessary and if the reports are true that they want Cousins and will make a big play for him next offseason, you can see them pass on QB. Not sure Chicago thinks Glennon is the answer but they might see if he is and if he isn't, take one next year. Would Cleveland go into next season with Kessler and Osweiller fighting for the starting role? Do the Bills role with Taylor again? Who the heck is gonna lead the Jets? Would arizona spend a first on a qb to develop this year behind Palmer? Do the Saints draft Brees' heir this year? And the Texans have no one!

    And who wants Jay Cutler?

I think 3 qb's go in round 1 unless Osweiller and or Jimmy G is traded. Could go 4 if someones moves up to grab Kizer at the end of round 1 to get his 5th year option. Too many teams need qb's and we could have some surprise teams like the Steelers draft one fairly high with all of Big Ben's talk of possible retirement.

It could easily still happen.... Browns, 49ers, Bears, Jaguars, Jets all don't have franchise QB's.

and Bills, and Chargers could even go QB.

Saints and Cardinals could try to trade up to get a franchise QB to develop.

Texans and Redskins could try to trade up for a QB.

Most QB needy teams in the NFL in a long time in my opinion.

With precious few options!!! Can you say reach?

I'm not sure about 2 in the top 9 (though definitely possible), but I expect 2 to come off before the Texans pick at 25 and another (1 or 2) to go between 25 and 32. Jets and Cleveland make the most sense besides the Texans who have no one (unless you count Tom Savage) but they are way back at 25!!! They are hoping and praying no one will snatch up 3 guys before they get a chance. They would be definite trade bait if we moved back to 10-12 or even jumping up to 18 (though theyd have to overpay for me to allow them to draft a franchise calibur QB!
