Well I hate to be the one to say this to you, but where do you see a QB laying around that we can hand Verner's $40M?

Im game if you find me a guy worth our time and money.....

The reality to it is, you can sign a whole bunch of other guys with the same money you would pay an elite QB. And being that we have no one worth $80M we might as well take our money and go shopping elsewhere. And that elsewhere is CB. Verner should get paid about $40M over the next 5 years IMO.

If during that time you see a quality QB going to waste, we can re-work some deals to make it happen.

In 2015 when Tom Brady is up for a new deal, lets try it then, okay?

But in 2014 we have either Jay Cutler, rookie QB, or Jake Locker. Unless we throw Cutler the $80M he'll wants, then sorry but we should pay Verner his $40M.

All this talk.. and you don't even address the point that big money CBs don't get you anywhere. The best argument you throw out is that we've got money to spend, so let's spend it on a CB?
    Get real, son.

If Verner signs cheaper than his "market value," then I say we sign him immediately. If he wants to be overpaid like Finnegan.. best wishes at his next stop, IMO. There are better ways to waste millions of dollars. this is nothing against Verner. Seems like a class guy. Hard worker. Would say my 2nd favorite Titan behind Washington. But the position he plays is just not worth the dollars they think they want.

If he wants big dollars, I can't blame him. Literally, good luck elsewhere. I will root for him.

You can bring up serviceable CBs from the stones. Anyone who spends a 1st round pick on one is a moron.

So everyone should just stop paying elite CB's and let the other teams WR's run freely? Genius.

They should pay them.. Just less than what they are getting paid.Probably half or so.

Did u get the point that I made that WRs do not run free even without high dollar CBs???????

Verner was NOT a high dollar CB, and he turned into a good player.

As I mentioned before. All but one of the past 5 years super bowl winning CBs were not high dollar, big name CBs.

Big name CBs get paid, then flame out.. most of the time.

how many of those are worth that to their teams?? How many are getting their money's worth?

Champ Bailey, HAS PLAYED FOUR GAMES. 0 INT

Greg Toler- 1 INT 17 solo tackles, 8 games played.

Talib- 12 games played, 37 tackles. 4 INT. solid performer.. worth 5 mil per year?? possibly.

Leon Hall- 5 games played... 20 tackles. 1 INT. Not worth the money.

    Flowers 68 tackles. 1 INT.

    Carlos Rogers 43 tackles, 2INT

Which of these screams "I deserve big money!" to you?

    OUCH.

The people who pay out for these players are getting the short end of the stick. The first team who gets them cheap gets most of the production.. the 2nd team gets all the bloated salary.

Verner is better on a CHEAP SALARY than all of these players are..

And my guess is that once Verner gets paid on these guys' level.. he drops to their production.

You raise up guys, get them good while they are young, then let someone else pay the price for their past play.

Youre making a mistake posting those stats. Low number of tackles is a good thing for a CB. It means he's not being thrown at and his LB's do their job.

well.. I don't know how to find stats that don't exist.

How else do you judge who should be overpaid? by INTs, I would assume. in that regard, these dudes fail miserably for the most part. The worst one is Champ Bailey. How can he make that much money... living simply off of his name???
