As of last week the Falcons had 20 dropped passes through 11 games, 8th highest in the NFL. They have 2 more dropped passes on the season than the Colts do, and the Seahawks, Saints, and Patriots all have more drops as a team than the Falcons do. It's not all Vick, but he's a large part of the problem, imo.

Vick's running style does not translate well to throwing. He is quick and changes direction a lot, so his scrambling is deadly. But you cant throw when you are moving around like a waterbug.

Vince glides and gains most of his deception while running with quick, seamless cuts. He can also take a hit and stay up. The result is a great ability to throw while running, and he can throw while being tackled. (Sometimes he tries to do so when he should just go down, but he is getting better in this respect.)

    Well...

That may be true RAW numbers wise, but again, you have to put this into context.

Peyton Manning has suffered 18 drops in 407 pass attempts while Vick has suffered 20 in 307 pass attempts. Sounds like ONLY 2 fewer drops, but that's in 30% more pass attempts.

In other words, Peyton Manning's completion percentage is dropped about 4% from his drops but Vicks is dropped about 6.5%. Not only that, but since the Falcons run the ball so much, those drops are more likely to cost them 1st downs to move the chains.

Vick hasn't been spectacular, but he's been better and a lot of there drops have been deep passes. An extra 50 yds passing a game (and probably another 3 or 7 pts) would make a big difference to that team.

I don't understand the "too early to tell" answer. It's either yes or no. The question is not is he going to be better. The question is, Is he better NOW. How can it be too early to tell???? That's impossible.

And the answer is no he's not better now. He will be, but not now.

    Well..

Too early to tell means they haven't seen enough of VY to make that judgement. Some people will make that judgement after one play, others need a year or 2.
