LenDale alone in the second round got us a great draft grade that year. No way we could have known Mojo would be this good. Plus look where LenDale went to school, I mean went to play sports.

I think Davis is slightly overrated, maybe just because he has terrible QBs throwing him the ball, but he is a solid athlete and way better than Cook.

    M. Lewis is a solid player, but outstanding enough to justify a number 3 pick? He was a solid pick for where he was, at the end of the first, but not a groundbreaking player.

And the o-linemen are good enough players, but I'd hope you'd get more of an impact player at #3 overall. I don't think Ferguson would have helped us out tremendously because we're ok at tackle, Mangoldmangoldman would have helped, but we had Mawae as a solid player for awhile there.

Santonio Holmes was good as well.

All of those players turned out to be nice players, but none are stars, and best at their position. If I could go through and redraft for us with hindsight.. it's tough, because there are tons of flops in that year. Ngata would be it by far.

2006 1st round was filled with historic whiffs. Leinart, D. Whitner, McCargo, Tye Hill, Bobby Carpenter, Maroney, Lawson, Jennings, J. Allen, M. Huff, Ernie Sims, and I would argue that Bush was a whiff.

Ernie Simms is good. At least he was with the Lions. He was the only one on the team that played defense.

I wasn't saying that those guys justified a #3 pick. I'm just saying that the draft isn't as bad as you made it out to be... IMO.

Vernon Davis and Haloti Ngata would have been amazing picks at #3. No one expected Ngata to be as good as he is though.

This would probably be a valid point if it were the NFC walking championships that he was pulled out of...

You may not like his personality (which is what this comes down to), or his track record on the the field, but it is foolish for any of us armchair guys to question his toughness...

None as pathetic and annoying as dbc though. To call him a "Cutler lover" is an understatement.

    I look at the 2006 draft and see M. Williams, D. Ferguson, V. Davis, H.Ngata, T. Hali, J. Joseph, N. Mangold, and M. Kiwanuka as stand-outs.

Out of those guys, I see only four who had sustained success (2+ years - Williams, Ngata, Joseph, and Mangold).

That ends up being a true quality player every 8 picks or so. Not exactly what you'd like to see in a round that you're normally looking for franchise players.

    2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 were all great drafts.

One true quality player per 8 picks is pretty routine in the draft... or so it seems.

I knew he was just being a poosy.

Of course hindsight is 20/20 but how sick would we have been with Ngata and Haynesworth. It wouldn't have mattered who we stuck in at QB.
