Posted by ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky Putting aside their offensive line woes, the Jacksonville Jaguars aren't exactly in panic mode this week. They got manhandled by the Titans in a season-opening loss in Nashville. They ran for just 33 yards. Their quarterback, who threw three picks all of last year, tossed two.
But a season-opening loss won't derail this team, and the players know it. They know it because they lost their opener against Tennessee last year too and rebounded just fine. Jacksonville won four in a row after that, and lost only four more games as it went 11-5 and earned the AFC's top Wild Card spot.
"It's staying the course on what we're doing, just not listening to all the outsiders," Mike Peterson said. "Not starting to point fingers, staying focused on what we started early, everything will work out. We're not going to have any problems at all. We'll look back on this in Week 17 going into the playoffs, think about it and probably pat ourselves on the back that we are able to rally and keep going."
Fred Taylor talked much the same way.
"You see where you can shore some things up, kind of tighten some things down and keep rolling man," he said. "It's too early to panic."
The Week 2 matchup isn't a good one for the offense, with a rebuilt interior offensive line trying to hold off former Jaguar Marcus Stroud. Jacksonville's D will need to stuff Marshawn Lynch and harass Trent Edwards to put the Jaguars in position to win.
"You don't want to have to dig out of a Week 1 loss, but it is just Week 1," David Garrard said. "This is not going to make or break a season... Every week, we've got to have our A game. We've definitely got to have it this week."
