The truth is, if Vince doesn't turn into a decent player we're screwed. Even if Collins comes in and has a fantastic season: Remember Damon Huard playing well a year or so ago? Where are they now? Where are AZ now with Warner playing there? It puts an instant cap on how good you can be. You are precluded from building a team that contends for a title several years in a row, and everyone knows those teams will have to go back to the draft or pick up a good qb through FA before they can do anything. We all lose if Vince doesn't pan out.

And the promising defense and running game we saw today will be completely wasted by bad QB play. Who knows, maybe we'd luck up and hit on a solid QB the very next year, but I'd say Vegas would give you some stiff odds that this would not be the case. If he tanks, we won't just bounce out of it.

But I will say this: 75% of his story will be determined by the end of the year. Regardless of injury or anything else, 3 years after the first permanent start is enough to get a pretty clear picture. And by the end of year 4 the rest of the story should be written--if he's playing like this at that point, then there's no doubt.

Our defensive line is BADASS!!!!

 

It's too early to panic about VY. We just played a very very solid defense, who Vince has NEVER had a good game against.

 

We have the best defense in the league in my mind. No hyperbole.
