Well hopefully they don't hold him back. But to not start someone because of a tough schedule is a huge flaw.

Good Lord. This franchise and its fans, after all the years of Fisher conservatism and veteran worship, is like a battered woman. No confidence, no willingness to take risks.

First of all, I don't think a bad showing against the Pats would hurt Locker's confidence badly. He played on a terrible college team, and kept his head up.

Secondly, while the NE OFFENSE is all world, their defense is pitiful. If Locker can't do well against that defense, we are in trouble.

Thirdly... there will come a day when Locker has a horrible game, and single-handedly loses a game for this team. It happens to all quarterbacks. Manning, Brady, Montana, they've all done it.

If he is so mentally weak (he isn't) that he can't take it, that he can't put it behind him and move on to the next challenge, then he is not a starting caliber QB in this league, and we need to find that out sooner rather than later.

Vince had already started by this point in his career, and I don't think ANYONE will dispute that Jake is much more mentally tough and smart than Vince ever was. And Locker has a FAR better offense than Vince ever did to work with.

Its time to let the kid loose. Obviously, you wanna try to set things up well for him, run the ball, easy throws early, all that, but its time to see what the kid has.
