CB Jamar Fletcher is in town. Woopity doo.

    From Scouts:
Fletcher played last season for Detroit following two years in San Diego and three with the Dolphins. Fletcher has played in 84 total games, starting eight times, during his six year career. Fletcher made two starts and 13 appearances for the Lions this season and finished with a career-best three interceptions, including one returned 88 yards for a touchdown. While Fletcher plays cornerback with excellent technical skills, his lack of speed and the inability to match up with elite NFL receivers has kept him from being a regular starter in the league. He keeps himself in good position, playing with both experienced anticipation and fluid hips and change-of-direction skills to react well in zone coverage. A solid tackler, Fletcher uses good form to compensate for his lack of size and strength. That physical match-up problem is most evident in the red zone, where bigger, more physical and better receivers will out-jump, out-position and out-play Fletcher. He does possess decent ball skills, but his man-coverage ability is a limitation, and in zone coverage, he often will route-read, making him susceptible to bite on double moves. Once out of position, he lacks the recovery speed and will give up big plays. Fletcher has done a quality job stepping in as a situational defensive back as the nickel or dime player, and when called upon to start on the island at base cornerback, he has held up well for the most part. As a valuable special teams player combined with his solid contributions in the secondary, Fletcher will most likely stay in Detroit with its emphasis on the Tampa Cover 2 scheme.

Northcut isn't an elite receiver. But yeah.

We gotta get Nick Harper in here.

    From Scouts:
Harper is an experienced starting corner who lines up both on the inside and outside in the Colts regular and sub defensive packages. He has natural playmaking skills and is the best corner on the Colts roster. He has good reactive athleticism but has some height and size limitations. Harper plays bigger than his listed size, though, when getting his hands on receivers and re-routing from press cover 2 alignments. He is smooth in his pedal, lateral quickness and transition and has very good awareness when reacting to pattern recognition in both short and intermediate areas. Harper can open his hips and speed turn while staying in phase with downfield vertical routes and has a knack for playing the ball with his back to the quarterback, and he has natural hands and ball skills when making plays on downfield throws. However, he will get out-jumped down the field and in the red zone by big, athletic receivers. He has good cover skills with good short area burst and close. He displays a good plant and drive and can realign his hips and feet while closing on short underneath routes. In the running game, he is not shy about lowering his shoulder and inserting it into ball carriers. He is an effective run support corner but also has size limitations there. Overall, Harper is best suited as a No. 2 corner with great instincts and experience but his age could be a concern for NFL teams.

    great choice of words :ha:

Harper would be great, and it'd be amusing to lineup two 5-10 corners that are that good

every DB looks decent to good in a Tampa 2 scheme. just ask Brian Kelly or David Macklin.

So I guess we'll be making Fletcher a big time offer... maybe a dum dum sucker and a ball of twine. Why are we wasting time even talking to this guy?
