Posted by ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- After too much buzz on talk radio Monday morning suggesting running back Chris Johnson didn't try to tough it out after he suffered a right ankle injury in the second quarter of Saturday's loss to the Ravens, Jeff Fisher clarified the extent of the rookie's injury Monday.

Fisher said Johnson had a high ankle sprain, was scheduled for an MRI, would have been doubtful this week for the AFC Championship Game if the Titans advanced and may not be able to play in the Pro Bowl on Feb 8.

"We made every attempt to get him back in the ball game," Fisher said. "He'll remain in a boot."

Fisher and Kevin Mawae also spoke of the right arm injury that kept Mawae out of the playoff loss to Baltimore. Mawae said it's a partially torn triceps tendon, not as bad as the one in his other arm that was ruptured 80 percent in 2005.

He will now have surgery to repair it the next few days.

"If this was Week 3 or 4, chances are I would have been on IR and given the team a chance to have someone else develop," he said.

Mawae said the goal, had the Titans played, was for him to play in the Super Bowl, but later Fisher mentioned it could have been as little as a ceremonial snap.
