    No.

I wouldn't pay anyone outside of football and maybe basketball.

Nothing else is making the university money.

The rest of the sports along with women's teams would cry.

Still don't understand why some fans are so polarized on the side of not giving these kids money or at least letting them go out and get endorsements.

What possible difference could it make to you?

    How?

Getting money somehow makes them play worse?

We are not talking about giving these kids millions of dollars BTW.

Just a wage to survive on. 20,000 - 25,000 a year tops across the board.

Letting the stars, Johnny Football, profit from the thousands of A&M jerseys they are selling with his number on them isn't going to break the game.

It certainly takes away some of the desire to ball out, I would think.

One of my biggest problems is that college football "traditionalist" have blinders on.

This is no longer an amateur sports!

The money being circulated is outrageous. There are videogames, TV networks, it goes on and on.

The major conferences have become farm leagues for the NFL. Don't expect any of that to change anytime soon BTW. The NCAA and the NFL are elbow deep in each other in this mutually beneficial system.

Stop pretending that theses are amateur teams playing for the love of the game and their university. Laughable, have any of you seen the circus that CFB recruiting has become in the last ten years?

It comes down to dictatorship of the majority. The majority of NCAA members, even at the division 1 level, are not big program. They do not want to pay and do not want to have to compete with schools who can. If you are a star and get a cut of jersey sales you are going to get more money at USC or Fresno State? So USC, which already enjoys a big recruiting advantage already, would have an even bigger advantage.

So because the smaller programs cannot afford to pay what the bigger ones do they want to make it so no one gets paid. And this is the reason I call the NCAA system communism. When the Big "10" and SEC announced they would give "Student" althletes some extra spending money the schools in the non-qualifier conferences of the NCAA got all pissy. They do not want to pay because they do not have as much money. And they do not want to have to compete with schools that do pay.

    "basically slavery"... seriously?

Maybe someone needs a history lesson. Yeah, and the crap that the chess club goes through is basically the Holocaust, right? I mean... close enough. Right?

Know what's "basically slavery"?... Internships. Yet no one is crying for them to be paid. And they're not getting a free ride to get people coffee and be on time, either. At a real job.

    Anyway--

They basically are paid. Or... they could get paid then dump that into the tuition/housing they're being given. How is that different?

If they want a job, they can use their skills and get a job. But college isn't a job. Playing a sport in college isn't a job. It's a privilege.

They're given an opportunity to coast through school for free because they're good at a sport. Should be paid? ha... right.

and the ones at major universities get paid anyway. Ask Cam Newton.
