The wife dragged me to it. She was a huge fan of the books - reading all 3 in about a week. She was pretty disappointed in the movie, and I didn't care much for it either. The movie left a lot the detail that fleshed the story out well in the books. I thought it was completely predictable, and like many others couldn't stop thinking that I enjoyed it much more when it was called The Running Man.
