I flipped over just a few minutes during the Cowboys vs. Bears game but liked what I saw. I recorded a later showing to watch sometime this week. Did anyone watch? I heard a few say it is supposed to be better than anything else he's done.
I watched the episodes on Tuesday and Wednesday night. They were quite good. Lots of WWII archival footage and the usual assortment of photo stills and voiceovers (a Burns staple). I hadn't heard anything about this, I just stumbled on it Tuesday night. It seemed to tell the war through the eyes of the citizens of four American cities. I'm not sure if it was exclusively WWII or if earlier episodes contained stories from WWI. It was interesting seeing the stuff on Italy (and specifically Casino), my Dad served there and really wouldn't talk about it. I can understand why. Some of the footage was extremely graphic. Hopefully PBS re-airs this soon I'd like to catch the stuff I missed. After the final episode they showed a short film of burns working on his new project on The US National parks (it scheduled to air in 2009).
