Texans Coach Gary Kubiak always trusted the word of former Titans offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger. The two were close friends, dating back to their coaching days with the Denver Broncos in the 1990s. Kubiak said Heimerdinger, who passed away in September 2011, used to brag on Dowell Loggains. Loggains on Monday was promoted to offensive coordinator of the Titans. He previously worked as quarterbacks coach of the team. Loggains spent three seasons with Heimerdinger, first as the team’s quality control coach, and later as quarterbacks coach. “I know he is a hell of a coach, and it is a great opportunity for him,’’ Kubiak said Wednesday. “I know ‘Dinger thought the world of him and obviously Mike (Munchak) does, too, to give him this opportunity.” Loggains replaced Chris Palmer on Monday. He takes over an offense currently ranked 24th in the NFL. Kubiak, a former quarterbacks coach himself, isn’t sure what changes the Titans might have for Sunday’s game against the Texans at LP Field. The Texans beat the Titans 38-14 on September 30 in Houston. “We have to prepare for what we have seen, that is all you can do as a staff,’’ Kubiak said. “Obviously they have (Jake Locker) back, so he is moving around and those types of things, so it is a little bit different. “… Any time you have somebody new calling a game it is probably going to look a little bit different, but our focus has to be on what they have done in the past and trying to get back to playing better defense. We have struggled the past two weeks.” Posted In: League News, Team News Source: Titans Insider
