How can Conley help him for 40 yards away?

If anything apply that logic on Foster.. Hes the one surrounded by talent. Latt plays on an island all alone most the time..

Really? If you have one good CB, the other will be targeted most of the time. Two good cornerbacks, you have to change your gameplan. Two first round cornerbacks and a top 10 safety? Teams don't test that.

Of course they test that, how else can they move the ball?

What, teams just run on OSU?

    No.

Conley gets picked on a lot compared to Latt, why? becasue you dont mess with Latt.

There are ways to have a passing game without going after the cornerbacks. Go watch some tape.

True or false...Foster is short and very small for NFL ILB standards? Foster has very inconsistent instincts vs inside run plays (he sometimes stays there and waits for an OL to come to him or sometimes takes a false step or two)? These are not things you find in Lattimore's size, speed, athleticism, or tape.

Foster does have a lot of tape where you can see these problems. Just because he made a tackle at the LOS or in the backfield doesn't mean that play will finish the same way in the NFL when he's not as protected and on a D that is so much more talented than the offenses it faces.

If you think Lattimore is surrounded by talent, Foster has a much bigger advantage that way. Having Conley opposite Lattimore hurts him (they want to throw away from Conley, right?), not helps him. Does Ohio State have a top 5 D player rushing the passer? 2 first round caliber rushers like Alabama? Humphrey has size and speed and is athletic, but he has some issues...like not looking for the ball which plagues a lot of otherwise good NFL cb's. His yds per catch is not good for a 1st round guy on THAT defense with that pass rush and WITH S help almost all the time!

King has the potential of Lattimore since he is very tall with great speed and athleticism, but his tape and technique is less consistent and he doesn't have Lattimore's feet and hips. Due to his play and potential, some will put him in round 1. To me he's more a borderline 1/2.

To me, Davis and Reddick are on Foster's level depending on your scheme and what you want out of them. Both are taller, heavier and as good (or better athletes). Reddick might have the most upside because he can truly become a dominant ILB that can do it all and he's the most athletic. Davis needs some technique cleaned up but he's a thumper with range and athleticism and upside. Cunningham is or isn't in this conversation depending on how you see him. Cunningham has the best instincts of this group (which you can't really coach up) and looks lean at 238 so in a year or two...you might have a 250lb ILB that can do it all too but he's not there yet. He needs a lot of NFL strength and other coach-able things.

Don't get me wrong, I'll take any of these guys on our team. They are all good. But I think if you're gonna take Foster, you better be able to keep him relatively clean so he can run and chase and kill and his average instincts won't hurt as much. And of course, keep him on the field!

Of course they test that. Going into the season would any of us have predicted Latt would be the best CB in this draft? Nope. Would we predict Hooker would be a top 10 S? Nope. As the year goes on and you watch tape, you think man, that kid is good. But you are gonna try and see what they do and attack them...including singling up Latt or Conley away from the single high Hooker and take shots downfield. You're also gonna look for them to drop into zone and hit your wr's in the seams as Conley and Latt bail into zone. They don't run man 100% of the time. And no matter how good Hooker is, you're gonna test him and see if you can burn him on playaction or move him with the qb's eyes or pump fake him in the wrong direction since he's inexperienced! Not all teams have good TE's or RB's to throw the ball to so short of making them the feature of your passing attack or not passing at all, you are gonna have to throw on OSU's secondary.

We will take an ILB project in Anthony Walker or Beckwith....

Just 1 CB and realistically Just 1 WR takes major major priority over a rotation-at-this-point ILB...
