The EA thing is like having the rights to all superheroes. The NFL and the NCAA are the only football leagues the generate any significant amount of revenue in this country.

It's like WB buying Marvel, DC Comics, and every other semi-large comic book company.

I'd say that's a bad example. Anyone can make a football game, they just can't use NFL or NCAA teams.

When I said "all superheroes" I meant all the major ones.

For sure, not many would watch a movie about a super hero that no one has ever heard of, just like not many people will play a game with no ties to the NFL or NCAA.

The NFL and NCAA are the only football leagues that are worth making a video game dedicated to. Generic football games never sell anything compared to the worst official NFL game.

All-pro football 2k8 or whatever it was was pretty fun, I was hoping it would have been more popular.

I can see your point. Still I think it is the NFL's right to license their product however they see fit, whether I agree with their decisions or not. And on the flip side it is EA's right to purchase the rights to any product a particular company is willing to sell. And I'd feel the same way if Marvel and DC sold all their movie rights to one studio. If people don't like the product or the company who is making it available then they don't have to buy it. It is just a video game after all.

Yeah I was assuming they got mine either through PSN or Gamestop (where I typically purchase Madden).
