To me, there is about a .01% chance he goes to Detroit. They drafted Drew STanton in the 2nd round...he's their QB of the future.

I think it doesn't help when a franchise doesn't show confidence in their QB... if Leftwich goes, Gerrard knows he's walking into a volatile situation. Look at the mess we made last year with that same QB carousel - no good. Better to just be open about your QBs deficiencies, but also be clear that they are the leader. Very weird decision if it's true.

    Arizona, Denver, or Seattle perhaps?

Well cross Atlanta off the list of possible destinations. There's an article in today's Atlanta Journal Constitution saying the team will not try to trade for or sign Leftwich

Yeah, it seems like a lot of teams are far more interested in Andrew Walters and Mark Brunell, including the Jags. Irony.

The problem is Leftwich believes he should be a starting QB, and there just aren't many teams looking for a starting QB -- especially not right before the season. In a way, Leftwich is in a similar situation to what Kerry Collins found himself last year (the difference being Leftwich wasn't a FA all summer). Collins wanted to go to a team where he at least had a chance to compete for the starting job, rather than to one where he'd be the backup. $$ is probably an issue, too. But as Collins found out, most teams are looking to bring in veteran QBs as mentors/backups for their young QBs -- at best, maybe be a short-term starter. Even if you play pretty well (like Kurt Warner did for the Giants in Eli Manning's rookie season), chances are you find yourself benched in favor of the young QB pretty quick.

Interesting Side Note: On my franchise team in Madden 08, Garrard is an 88 starting over an 84 leftwich. I traded rattay and a fourth for him [ i had 3. big deal.] and traded KFC for a 1st, 3rd, and 4th. [the bears had all of their QBs injured. lol. Rohan Davey was their starter. good deal.]
