Was Kahn's turn as Lilli Von Schtupp the funniest female performance ever captured on film? I can only think of a few others that come close.

    Here's a taste...

I dunno about the funniest portrayal EVER. That's definitely pushing it. But you couldn't have picked a better film to at least give props to. The ending remains one of my favorite ever. :ha:

I've always had a thing for Kahn so it's entirely possible that I'm biased (she was also brilliant in Brooks' "Young Frankenstein").

When I posted this I was trying to think of funnier film performances on film and I couldn't come up with any... the only two that spring to mind are Kirstie Alley in "Deconstructing Harry" and Frances McDormand "Fargo" in . I'm sure I'm overlooking a bunch... just none are coming to mind.

(Holly Hunter in Raising Arizona just occured to me as I was about to hit "post reply")

I suspect as soon as I do post this a bunch more will instanly pop into my melon

Katherine O'Hara - Best in Show (and pretty much anything else she's in for that matter)
Parker Posey - Dazed and Confused (and Best in Show)

Katherine O'Hara may be the most under appreciated actor around (regardless of gender).

    Madeline Kahn was great.

I had a thing for her too.Would I be right in guessing that you like Bernadette Peters too?

I think Streisand in What's Up Doc is pretty hard to top.One of my dad's favourite movies.I forgot Kahn was in that too until I started looking for clips.

I thought Madeline Kahn was upstaged by Chloris Leachman in YF..
Does anyone else think Jane Lynch is hilarious in this current run of Apatow-esqe flicks?

I know I posted this in Kaz' thread earlier in the week but for me this is one of the funniest jobs ever by a female actress:

Love D & C., probably my favorite movie ever.
"Alright you little freshman b####es. Air raid!!" :grrhee:

Yeah, O'hara is a great actress. You forgot to mention her role, albeit a small one in Beetlejuice.
