    I think we will run more power blocking this season while they run a zone blocking scheme from what I remember. But heavy runs, great play action. Long throws when actually throwing... Could be good here. But we must be able to run the ball first.

    The pistol is a great offense even for teams that don't want to run any read option at all. It allows you to run down hill with the RBs but still get the benefit of a gun formation for passing. It is a wonder more teams haven't been running this. The running game out of the gun is so limited.

    You could install the pistol and run 90% of your regular offense from it and make the QB's job easier. Why not do it not to mention it is a good formation for some read option.

    Exactly. But it is just a formation. Read option is scheme.
