Traded Infamous, LBP and Star Wars Force Unleashed for LA Noire.
    Will re-download Infamous and LBP
Then traded CoD WaW, Lego Harry Potter and Bioshock 2 for Killzone 3.

Imagine giving games to 77 million accounts. I don't see the difference in that in giving each credits or simply discounting games by removing all or part of their commission for a month.

All the games are ones that Sony owns, they pay nothing to give them out.

If they, for example, put up Assassins Creed for free, they'd have to pay Ubisoft money for everyone who buys it, same with any other non-Sony developed game.

If they give credit, they're giving 77 million accounts over a couple of billions worth of dollars.

Clearly 2 and 3 are not feasible.

Again, they'd essentially have to buy these games from third party publishers, which would be monstrously expensive. With this selection of games, they're merely "losing" a profit, even though most of these games have been purchased already by most PSN customers at some point. I'd rather Sony spent their money updating their software and firewall encryptions, not buying games for users.

This is just a consolation offer, not some sort of reparation owed to users.

I understand the reason Sony wants to give away games which have little to no profit value for Sony or the game maker. I think, in the long run, giving a small credit, coupon or discounting their store prices by a percentage of their commission for a period of time would go much further to keeping the fallout to a minimum even though it would cost them more initially.

If they gave $10 in credits, that's $770 million dollars. But that's only pretend money. People have to spend it. How many would buy a game worth $9.99? How many would buy a game they normally might not which costs $19.99 or higher? How much would never be spent at all?

I guess we'll have to wait and see the long-term impact.

I downloaded LBP the other day and started playing it a little bit last night. Is there a purpose to this game, or do you just collect stickers?

It's a platformer but there's no real story.

The crux of it is in the user created levels.
