I'd have probably taken the deal. Could have gotten two good starters in the first, another in the second, and still have two firsts next year.

I like Davis, and am not mad we turned the deal down, but I don't see him as so amazing a prospect that he is worth three other high picked players.

 

"High picked players" does not necessarily equal "good players" though. Of course you can apply the same logic to Davis at 5. But we really needed to take a big swing at the WR position imo. Particularly after getting no one in FA.

 

By staying at 5 the Titans have not only gotten the best WR in Titans history, but I believe best WR to enter draft since 1985 when San Fran took Jerry Rice, some people compare Corey to Jerry or Terrell , I believe he has certain traits of both body type of Terrell , super explosive after catch with ball in hands and route running of Jerry, but more than both I Think he compare's to a bigger faster Sterling Sharpe from Green Bay late 80's early 90's before injury, he was right on Jerry's heals stat wise despite playing with the Magic man for a few years before Favre came to town and his severe injury. I believe that if not for ankle injury Corey would have run a 4:36- 4;41 40 and been picked 2-5 in draft so injury definetly helped us he's in another realm of WR than the other guys taken in in top 10 M,Williams and Ross (there not in his class). History will show that Corey Davis will be best player out of 2017 NFL Draft. Just like Mariota was best player in 2015. Remember 6 Super Bowls in the next Ten years for these Titans.

I feel ya, it all depends on what Davis does. If he pulls a Kenny Britt I'll be pissed we didn't trade down. Just imagine: 18 OJ, 27 Foster, 2nd Awuzie, and who knows what kinda trades would of been done.

This was not the draft to have late first round picks and multiple mid round picks. There was practically no depth. A few elite players at the top and then a bunch of average.

The first round pick next year is tempting, but it is not going to be higher than 5th.
