Numerous Bucs and league sources have pointed to former Bears head coach Lovie Smith, a onetime Tampa Bay assistant, as a frontrunner to land the Buccaneers head coaching job, with former Bucs exec Rich McKay returning to the team as a team president.
After helping the Falcons secure a new stadium in Atlanta, sources say McKay could get out of his deal without major complications.
McKay does not have a role in football operations with the Falcons but could have a role in reshaping it in Tampa, with Smith, as Bucs GM Mark Dominik also was also let go Monday.
Several league sources noted the very strong relationship Smith had with personnel director Chris Ballard when both were in Chicago, and Ballard is viewed by many as an emerging young executive. Ballard is currently the director of player personnel in Kansas City, and if the Smith-McKay pairing happens in Tampa, as expected, he too could be part of that group.
Ballard is in his first season with the Chiefs, going there as part of the Andy Reid/John Dorsey management team that took over the franchise in 2013.

They can have him. Im over Lovie Smith. If he couldn't get it done with Rex Grossman, he wont be able to get it down with a slightly better Jake Locker.

Really? That's Love Smith's damning quality? That he couldn't get it done with Rex Grossman.

    Thats one of them yea

and we dont get that Bears D either, so he's not that appealing

when your best quality is that youre not Mike Munchak, I can't be in love with that. I want a better coach.

Jake Locker before his injury against the Jets:

    62.2 CMP% 721 YDS 99 QBR 6 TD 0 INT 1 Rush TD

Grossman Playoffs in 2006 (3 games, about same time as Locker)
    56.5 CMP% 591 YDS 3 TD 3 INT 73.2 QBR

Locker is clearly better, which isn't saying much but still.

I don't understand the Locker talk

the whole point of getting a new coach IS THE EXTREME PROBABILITY OF GETTING A NEW QB TO GO ALONG WITH HIM.

****, stop huffing paint. I mean, unless I missed the part where Locker is our franchise QB, did I miss that?
