Hey, I'm a Broncos fan and just wanted to get an honest assessment of Lowry. Why was he cut? What does he do well/not so well? What is his realistic potential for this season and the future?

I don't know if you all do contribution points or anything, but if so I'll give them for good/insightful answers.

Thanks, and best of luck to you and your team this season.

he's a big hitter on special teams but is horrid in coverage and takes bad angles in pursuit.

He was pretty terrible last year, but this preseason he looked pretty good at least in the first couple contests. I was surprised that we cut him, honestly. His coverage is his weak point as he's a decent tackler but doesn't seem very quick to diagnose plays. He is an adequate athlete. His potential is probably a good 2nd safety on the depth chart and a contributor on special teams.

    Consistency is his issue.

Lowry is a marginal player. He's not terrible, he did start 11 games for us last year and wasn't a huge weakness for our defense. He is a capable backup.

Chris carr is why lowry was cut for 2 reasons.

He made an extra roster spot at the CB position because he is our return man which made one less spot at safety. Secondly the fact that carr is a viable alternative at NB frees up fuller to play safety if hope or griffin go down making lowry expendable.

I found Lowry stay with the Titans decidely unspectacular. As a Titans DB I was always looking for any excuse to get behind the guy, but he never did anything to make me think he's something more than a JAG type player.

I liked lowry as a depth and special teams role player, I wouldn't want him as a full time starter though. Was surprised that we cut him.

Yep. He's good for depth and special teams. He can make some plays here and there, and give up some just the same.

    He is a solid backup.

You just got a nice pickup.
