Safety Corey Lynch is making a quick impression on Titans coaches as he works to earn a place on the 53-man roster.

Lynch was signed less than two weeks ago, but he has a few factors in his favor as he looks to land a spot behind free safety Michael Griffin: He’s got plenty of experience (68 NFL games over five seasons, including 12 starts), he’s played primarily free safety in his career, but is also comfortable at strong safety, and he’s a good special-teams player.

“He was able to come in and grasp the defense very quickly,” secondary coach Brett Maxie said. “There’s really not much that drop off when he goes in because he knows our system. He’s played a lot of football and been a starter in this league, so you can put him in that mix with George Wilson and Bernard Pollard and Michael Griffin.”

Lynch should see plenty of action in the second half Saturday against Atlanta, as should rookie Daimion Stafford, who is more of a strong safety.

Lynch’s experience is helping him adjust quickly to the Titans, coach Mike Munchak said.

“There’s only so many things that are different,” he said. “Special teams is an area he can really show up in, and he did last week with his speed and his effort, and all that stuff was good to see in his first time out.”

I heard the same of Alfalava, and he played ok, but nobody to be excited over. Hopefully these back-up safety's never need to play.
