We bought our first Mac last year (a Macbook) and I have to say I've been real impressed with it so far. I had some reservations about it at first (I was a big PC gamer), but most games I like for the PC I can play on the Macbook with Crossover Games or Parallels Windows which allows you to run windows on your system. I however, would recommend getting something with at least 4 GB Memory if you choose to run Parallels so you can run both smoothly, I only have 2 GB on the Macbook and it runs well for normal office stuff, but games (Spore, CS in my case) don't run as smoothly as I'd like it too on the 1 GB shared RAM. Anyways, PC vs. Mac is entirely a personal preference and I'm sure either choice will be a good decision considering it will be brand new. Macs can be pricey though for what you could comparably get on a Windows based Laptop which is always important to take into consideration.
