No young QB is perfect. When you play a qb early in their career, you expect to see a lot of bumps and learning. But you also want to see some flashes of potential. What you want is, to over time, see the flashes of potential eventually outweigh the bumps as the QB matures and learns.

This is exactly where we are at with MM right now. He makes some mistakes, but also has times where he puts the team on his back and makes some great plays/drives ... as time goes on, we would expect to see these things happen more and more often. And the mistakes to happen less and less.

He has played 14 career games so far. Not even a full season. This is exactly where MM should be right now in his development. But People get upset because he isn't Aaron Rodgers already (well maybe that isn't the best comparison right now since AROD is in a slump, but you get the point)

Winston had a horrible outing last week. Does that mean he is a mediocre QB? No, it just means he is still going through those learning pains.

Luck is 2-9 in his last 11 games, and made 2 incredibly costly Turnovers to lose to Denver. 4 years in the NFL and he is still learning.

Osweiler has had years to learn and a little bit of in game experience, 1st year as a starter though, and he looks to have a long way to go.

Blake bortles. Year 1 looked like trash. Year 2, we see some improvement but they still only won 5 games. So far this year he hasn't been so hot ... he could be a good QB, but year 3 is still early and he is still learning.

Derek carr, year 1 was not impressive at all. Year 2 was much improved. Year 3 and he seems to be doing quite well ... but remember, MM is still essentially in his year 1 right now. Much better than DC was in his year 1

The point I'm trying to make is, MM is SO early in his career, what is the point of trying to crucify the guy for every mistake and tear apart every good thing he does ... it's Game 14!! Countless rookies have showed less in more games. MM has at times showed poise when the game is on line. That is a good thing. That is a trait in a young QB that can be developed further as he matures. He has shown accuracy, he has shown he can make big plays when called upon. He had shown that the game is not to big for him ... 14 games into his career, you can't ask for a whole lot more.

Now, if we are sitting here in year 3,4,5 and we still are seeing the same mistakes, or we still aren't winning games, then sure. Go ahead and complain. But what did you really expect to see from a young QB?

Most QBs aren't hitting their primes until late 20s or 30s right now.

^^^^ your post illustrates why I could care less about QB stats or player fans. I don't care who the hell the QB is and who likes him/her, all I truly care about is wins and losses.

MM8, Murray, Demarco, Conklin, Lewan and Sharpe all getting constant mentions but what about the defense currently 14th overall not bad at the moment to say its not the strongest part of the titans game.

He has the tools to be great and has put up an impressive resume so far despite a poor team. He is certainly regarded around the league as an emerging star. I think the "Marcus isn't an nfl QB thread" proved most people are behind him. But either way, Marcus is in the league to stay. A person with his skills, work ethic and character is going to be highly coveted. Whether in Titan blue or some other color. Haters are gonna be watching him on Sunday for a long while.

After wins and losses the site gets hater threads. This was started for the sole purpose of the OP pointing out he still thinks Mariota is mediocre. Complete hater thread.

If you read the rest of the article it points out that Mariota also lead the Titans to come backs in the 4th quarter 3-4 other times only to have the defense let the opponent win.

So yes, it proves he's capable of leading scoring drives and winning games when it matters most. He's done it in about half of the games he's played in. Pretty impressive for a QB with less than a seasons worth of games under his belt.

Mariota is far from perfect, but he's the best this franchise has had in a long time and he's only going to get better. I was against drafting him but he's proven to be a capable QB with his play.

The first column is 4th Quarter comebacks and the second is game winning drives. 1 or maybe 2 of those on this list played less than the 14 games Mariota has played. So for arguments sake, count this seasons 2 games, add 1 to each column for Marcus to even the games played.(he's still played 2 less than most but can't give him games he didn't play) He's in pretty good company.

My whole point is, the numbers might not seem eye popping but they match up well with some really good QBs.
