Don't roll your eyes at me mister !!!! :grrr:

    :))

I guess I did avoid this one, it's not that I’m reticent to talk about it, it's more that it's a kind of a long story without much of a punch line. The Cliff Notes version would be that after working at various jobs continuously since I was about 15 years old I decided that I needed a break. I had a crap position as a quality control supervisor at an automotive parts manufacturer. My sister had gotten me the job and really early on I discovered that it really wasn't for me. One day I just got in my car in mid shift and drove away. Both through working and through other means I'd managed to tuck away quite a bit of money, so I thought I'd chill for a bit.

A couple of weeks into my "vacation" it became clear that I needed to do something with myself. Being a huge movie buff I thought it'd be fun to get a part time evening gig at a video rental place. What could be better than sitting around all night and talking about movies with people. I scanned the help wanted ads and noticed an ad for a night clerk at an adult store... not exactly the video rental job that I wanted to try, but certainly it seemed to offer an interesting life experience. I interviewed for the job and got it, and before long became good friends with the store's owner. Being a fairly observant person, it became clear to me pretty early that it was a great business to get into (as long as you carried no moral baggage).

As I said I had some money set aside and after a few months of working at the store I began to explore the possibility of getting into the business at the ownership level. After poking about for a while, I made an offer to purchase 50% interest in the store I worked in as well as open another location here in the city. My offer was accepted and my boss became my partner. About six months later he sold off his share to a retired Korean banker and I had a new partner. At that time I changed the names of the stores to Sin City Adult Superstore, designed a new logo, and the business really took off. The new name worked to perfection; naughty enough to get the idea of what we're about instantly but unique enough to gain some brand recognition (most adult stores up here have really generic names "Adult Movie Warehouse, Adults Only Video, Adult Connection).

I have zero qualms about the industry. As I said I carry no moral baggage about erotica, I'm not apologetic about the business I'm in (not at any level). At its best erotica can provide excellent examples of humanity's passion, curiousity and diversity. At it's worst it can be base, vile and exploitive (sounds like almost every other branch of the entertainment industry). No one goes to war over erotica, nor does porn cause cancer. The films I carry feature consenting adults and are in a controlled environment to be rented only by adults.

The surprising thing about the adult business is how mundane it really is. I think the asumption is that the clientele is made up of whack jobs, but I can tell you I had more crazies working in a variety store for six months than I've had in my decade in adult. The customer base is a quiet, well behaved bunch and another huge advantage is not having to deal with other people's poorly raised kids.

    I laughed, I cried, I kissed 15 minutes goodbye.

Lots. Started with Tolkien's brilliant LOTR, then worked my way through the usual suspects.

Not the healthiest of choices, but I'm a big fan of the toasted meatball sub (extra cheese, green peppers and onions)

It's been recommended to me by a few people but I've yet to watch an episode. Yet another thing on the "to do list".

It's really hard to pick one. I'm going to say driving through the Rockies in British Columbia... I can't recall the road's name but it was twisty and thrilling.

The last gaming system I purchased was a PS1

If you got struck by lighting and the devil comes down to offer you a choice ...

You live another 20 years or so but if you touch a collectable (the standard ones like cards or what ever) or even desire it the bet is off ..... knowing your entire collection is gone ... loosing the memory of the joy you felt while collecting them ...

    or

Keep that joy and end it there?

Brady is my only Pat. I knew he was going to light it up this year so I moved him waaaaay up in the pre-draft ranking. Ditto for Adrain Peterson.

I can't believe I've done so well considering I drafted Steven Jackson first overall.

It's kind of been explained. I was just looking for a completely unique internet identity (titanboy was apt to be taken at every second site). As for the 'buoy" bit, I do like the water, and in fact own a kayak, but again it was more for to create a one of a kind name rather than have any clever meaning.

CC is going to get annoyed at me for this but I hate seeing my titanbuoy moniker capitalized. When people capitalize it they seem to be saying to me that they think I'm forgetting to use upper case on my own name. It's certainly not a big deal, but I am in fact not an idiot, it's intended to be all lower case. :clown:

Of course this is all extremely important stuff :ha:

    They'd all be old schoolio

    1960 Fleer George Blanda
    1960 Topps Billy Cannon
    1979 Topps Earl Campbell
    1985 Topps Warren Moon
    1976 Topps Robert Brazille
    1970 Topps Elvin Bethea
    1986 Topps Mike Munchak
    1962 Fleer Charlie Hennigan
    1971 Topps Ken Houston
1989 Score Bruce Matthews (I already own PSA 10 versions of Bruce's other two RC's)

I'd tell him to pucker up and kiss my pasty butt and that I don't believe in such hocus pocus.

Heehee...I was doing the same thing....leaving mine in lower case as a legible form of humility. The truth is that humility as a banner is equally as arrogant: who am I to tell others to bend to my will and ignore the accepted common rules of proper noun capitalization? Besides, Avvie is what I am called, so it is my name.

And I loved your treatise on the adult video business.
