I know a lot of judges that get upset if you wear sandals/t-shirts/shorts to court. A lot of times they'll tell you to change that if you re-schedule your court date.
If I was on trial for murder, I'd just wear my OJ Simpson jersey.

There should be more trial used memorabilia. As crazy as that sounds, and sadly, I bet that market is viable.

I come from an "And Justice for All" standpoint.

Judges should rule on facts and law, not how well or poorly people are dressed.

Having a good wardrobe should not be a prerequisite for justice being served.

If we let judges discriminate based upon dress, then what next?

What we need on the bench are men and women with proper judicial temperment who do not get excited about the way people are dressed.

Judges are there to judge, not be worshiped, and not necessarily be respected.

Judges should decide guilt or innocence under the law without regard to how respected they feel. It is just that simple.

Maybe they should ban orange jumpsuits as well?

Every arraignment for suspects not up to the dress code should be sent home to change, perhaps?

Who cares if it is a distraction or not? That isn't the point.
What matters is that they are legally compelling you to appear, and that you are supposed to be judged on the facts and the law, not how you look or how you dress.

If you start at a point that insists on a dress code, then you are not getting blind justice.
