Forget those threads on Chow. He's gone. Let's talk about our next step. It's funny that Fisher has sent at request to the Broncos to speak with Mike Heimerdinger for our OC opening. We should have never let him get away the last time. Mike took a young running QB in McNair and developed a high scoring MVP. Even Billy looked like a start under his offense. I like the idea of Mike returning. If not him, maybe Cam? What do you guys think?

Billy Volek looked like a starter last week too. But the key is, Can Heimerdinger convince Fisher to open up the offense like he did when it struggled a few years back?
Remember there was a story that he had to get Fisher drunk in order to let him lighten up on the conservative play calling? Which tells me Fish probably needs to let the OC do his job, and butt out a bit. Once we did open up the play book and start running 4-5 receiver sets we were putting up 40 points a game for about 3 games and began blowing teams out. Eventually though, Fish went right back to the same conservative plays and trying to win by 3 points.

Boo to H'dinger. Like an old boyfriend, you're remembering only the good times. That offense was a yawn and it was the kick a** defense that carried us.

Time for something and someone new. Time to get an OC who thinks throw the ball down the field instead of running and ball control.

Hopefully Heimerdinger will not come back unless he is given significant control over offensive scheming and play calling.

There is a rumor that McNair wanted Dinger gone because he said something that McNair took as racist. Dinger was always screaming and yelling at players. If VY consults with "pops", it is doubtful VY would sign off on hiring Dinger.

Dinger's strong suit is throwing the ball downfield, has been and always will be. No ball control for him. And if an unmetioned player hasn't sealed his fate by getting kicked off the team, and Tully starts at MLB, our defense will be back Challenging for top 5 status again (barring Schwartzie stays here)

Correction Ewker: We have to have someone that can Catch it....

Elfin - The offense isn't going to change much at all no matter who we bring in. However, Heimerdinger ONCE convinced Fish to open the playbook. (proving that Fisher controls the conservative offense and not the OC) So maybe he can do it again. That's our only hope.
Personally, I think the only thing that'll help this O much is getting rid of Fisher and his dinosaur playbook that doesn't work anymore. But since that wont happen, we need someone that can talk some sense in to the guy.
